This 2-hour program features an award-winning investigative broadcast journalist, Lori Jane Gliha, and Kristin Volk, a former investigative broadcast journalist and legal marketing director turned attorney. Together, they will guide attorneys through understanding the innerworkings of the media, communicating effectively, and navigating ethical obligations when engaging with reporters. Kristin Volk | Tucker Ellis LLP

Kristin Volk leverages her prior career as an investigative journalist to support the litigation teams at Tucker Ellis, a full-service law firm with 240 lawyers and nearly a dozen locations nationwide.

Before becoming an attorney, Kristin spent more than a decade as a broadcast journalist in Washington, DC, New York, Chicago, and Cleveland. In Washington, D.C., she worked for various news bureaus, including the Scripps National Investigative Unit, producing and reporting stories for local Scripps stations nationwide. While at ABC News in New York, Kristin worked with Diane Sawyer, Charlie Gibson and the late Barbara Walters on a variety of in-depth stories. At NewsChannel 5 in Cleveland, Kristin won an Emmy for uncovering mismanagement within a disgraced government agency. She also covered the discovery of the three Cleveland women who had been missing for roughly a decade, and she received a state award for uncovering the troubling conditions of state-sponsored homes for individuals with mental health issues.

A native of Toledo, Ohio, Kristin earned her J.D. and MBA from the University of Toledo. She earned her bachelor’s degree in communications from Denison University and her master’s in journalism from Northwestern University.

Lori Jane Gliha is an ethical, enterprising, award-winning national investigative reporter for Scripps News.

She is known for her exclusive, national, in-depth investigations, hard-hitting interviews, and continuous coverage of important issues including the use of ketamine – by paramedics -to sedate agitated people; fentanyl poisonings among babies, toddlers, and young children; and gun violence.

In 2025, she was awarded the prestigious duPont-Columbia Award for her investigation into the deadliest mass shooting of 2023 in Lewiston, Maine.

She has received two national Edward R. Murrow Awards and has been awarded the highly competitive IRE award for long-form video journalism, a national recognition for investigative reporters and editors.

She received a degree in Broadcast Journalism at the University of Southern California, and graduated, Summa cum Laude, as the Outstanding Broadcast Journalism Undergraduate. She minored in Spanish.
